What you will need:

  • Worsted Yarn
    1. Blue-Knit Picks Wool of the Andes 1 skein in Winter Night
    2. White-Knit Picks Wool of the Andes 1 skein in White
  • E (3.5 mm) hook
  • Sew on snaps
  • White sewing thread and needle
  • Yarn Needle

  • Scissors

With E hook and white, ch 69.

Row 1. Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (68 sc)

Row 2. Sc in the next 10 sts, inc, sc in the next 12 sts, inc, sc in the next 20 sts, inc, sc in the next 12 sts inc, sc in the next 10 sts, change to blue. Ch 1, turn. (72 sc)

Row 3. Sc in the next 10 sts, inc, inc, sc in the next 12 sts, inc, inc, sc in the next 20 sts, inc, inc, sc in the next 12 sts, inc, inc, sc in the next 10 sts. Ch 1, turn. (80 sc)

Sleeves

With E hook and white, create a slip knot and pick up the leftmost ch under the right sleeve.

Row 1. Sc in the first ch, sc in the next 28 sts, sc in the last ch. Ch 1, turn. (30 sc)

Row 2. sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (30 sc)

Row 3. Sc in each st across, change to blue. Ch 1, turn. (30 sc)

Row 4-7. Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (30 sc)

Row 8. Sc in each st across, change to white. Ch 1, turn. (30 sc)

Row 9. Sc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (30 sc)

Row 10. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (30 hdc)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Repeat instructions for the left sleeve.

Turn sleeves inside out and whipstitch the seam together, changing colors as needed. Weave in ends.

Neckline

With E hook and white, create a slip knot and pick up the first ch at the neckline with a sl st. Ch 2.

Row 1. Hdc in the same ch as sl st, hdc in the next ch, hdc2tog, *hdc in the next 2 ch, hdc2tog. Repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. (51 sts)

Row 2. *fpdc in the next st, bpdc in the next st. Repeat from * across ending with a fpdc. (50 sts)

Back Opening

Work a sc border, changing colors as needed, along the 2 back opening edges of the sweater.

Weave in ends.

Finishing

Sew the snap closures along the back opening edges. I sewed one at the top of each white stripe for a total of four snap closures.
