Wonder Woman Costume Crochet Pattern for American Girl and 18″ Dolls

  • #4 Worsted Weight Yarn
  • E (3.5 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Row counter & stitch markers

  • Clothing is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise noted. Place marker at the beginning of each round. 
  • Make secure, firm stitches. Follow gauge for correct size of clothing. 
  • Take your time in the finishing details to get the best results!

With E hook and red, chain 66. Sl st to the first chain to create a ring. Continue to work in continuous rounds. 

Row 1. Sc in each chain around. (66 sc)

Row 2. Sc in each st around. (66 sc)

Row 3. Sc in the next 15 sts, dec, sc in the next 31 sts, dec, sc in the next 16 sts. (64 sc)

Row 4. Sc in each st around. (64 sc)

Row 5. Sc in the next 15 sts, dec, sc in the next 30 sts, dec, sc in the next 15 sts. (62 sc)

Row 6-17. Sc in each st around. (62 sc)

Sl st to the next st. Fasten Off. 

Bustline

Mark 23 sts in the front of the top from the row just worked. The beginning chain row will be at the waist and the tail of the yarn in the center back. 

Create a slip knot and pick up the first st.

Row 1. Sc across the 23 marked sts. Ch 1, turn. (23 sc)

Row 2. Dec, sc in the next 19 sts, dec. Ch 1, turn. (21 sc)

Row 3. Dec, sc in the next 6 sts, dec. (Leave remaining sts unworked.) Ch 1, turn. (8 sc)

Create a slip knot and skip one st from row 2 and pick up the next st (the second st to the left of the right side of the bustline).

Create a slip knot and pick up the st in the center back of the top and work a sc border around the entire top working up the edges of the curves in the bustline. Sl st to the first st worked and fasten off. Weave in ends.

With E hook and blue, create a slip knot and working in the opposite direction than the top was worked, pick up the chain at the center back of the waist.

Boots (make 2)

With E hook and red, chain 11.

Details

Stars

With red craft felt, cut out a star shape that measures 1”x1”. Hot Glue to the center of the front of the headband. With white craft felt, cut out 20 stars that measure 1”x1”. Hot glue around the skirt.

“W”

With gold craft felt, cut out the W shape for the top of the dress. The top of the W should be about 3 ¼” wide and the bottom about 1” wide. It should be about 2 ¼” tall. Hot glue to the front of the top.

Boot Stripes

With white craft felt, cut out 2 long rectangles that measure about ¼” wide x 2 ¾” tall. Glue to the center of the red of the boot. Once glued, fold down the white trim at the top of the boot to create a cuff.

Lasso

With gold yarn, cut 3 strands that measure about 72” long. Create a doll makers knot at the top of the 3 strands to secure. Braid the length of the strands and create another doll makers knot at the end of the braid to secure. Trim ends and wrap the lasso through the loop on the belt multiple times. To dress the doll, pull the clothes on up over the feet.
