Materials

• #2 Sport Yarn
•  E hook (3.50 mm)
• Row counter 
• Yarn needle
• ⅜” diameter shank back buttons (quantity: 2)
• Sewing needle
• Scissors

Yarn

• Black-Knit Picks Shine Sport Weight 4 skeins in Black 

Gauge 20 hdc over 16 rows=4” square. Be sure to check your gauge to ensure fit. Adjust hook or yarn size if necessary.

Directions

Ch 50.

Row 1. Hdc in the third ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. (48 hdc)

Row 2. *hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. (72 hdc)

Row 3. Hdc in the next 9 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 12 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 18 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 12 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next 9 sts. Row 37-40. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (96 hdc)

Row 41. Hdc in the first 3 sts, *hdc in the next 14 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across to the last 3 sts, hdc in the last 3 sts. Ch 2, turn. (102 hdc)

Row 42-45. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (102 hdc)

Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Sleeves

Create a slip knot and pick up the chain st under the left arm. 

Row 1. Sl st in the ch st to join, hdc in the same st, hdc in the next 23 sts. Ch 2, turn. (24 hdc)

Row 2. Hdc in the first 3 sts, *hdc in the next 5 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across to the last 3 sts, hdc in the last 3 sts. Ch 2, turn. (27 hdc)

Row 3-4. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (27 hdc)

Row 5. Hdc in the first 3 sts, *hdc in the next 6 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across to the last 3 sts, hdc in the last 3 sts. Ch 2, turn. (30 hdc)

Row 6-7. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (30 hdc)

Row 8. Hdc in the first 3 sts, *hdc in the next 7 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across to the last 3 sts, hdc in the last 3 sts. Ch 2, turn. (33 hdc)

Row 9-10. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (33 hdc)

Row 11. Hdc in the first 3 sts, *hdc in the next 8 sts, 2 hdc in the next st. Repeat from * across to the last 3 sts, hdc in the last 3 sts. Ch 2, turn. (36 hdc)

Row 12-13. Hdc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. (36 hdc)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Turn the sleeve inside out and whipstitch the seam together. Weave in ends. 

Repeat instructions for the right sleeve. 

Hood

Create a slip knot and pick up the first ch st around the neckline. 

Row 1. Sl st to join, hdc in the same st and  in the next 3 ch, *hdc2tog, hdc in the next ch. Repeat from * 3 more times (4 times total), hdc in the next 14 ch, ^hdc in the next ch, hdc2tog. Repeat from ^ 3 more times (4 times total), hdc in the next 5 ch. Ch 2, turn. (39 hdc)

Row 2. *hdc, 2 hdc. Repeat from * across. Hdc in the last st. Ch 2, turn. (58 hdc)

Row 3-23. Hdc across. Ch 2, turn. (58 hdc)

Row 24. Hdc across. (58 hdc)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Turn the hood inside out and fold the last row of the hood in half. Whipstitch the 2 halves together to create the top of the hood. Weave in ends. 

Create a border along the entire front edge: create a slip knot and pick up the bottom corner stitch. Work 2 sc in the corner, sc up the front opening edge, around the hood and back down the opposite front opening side working 2 sc in the opposite corner. Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Buttons

Sew the 2 buttons on the opening front edge at the top of the robe.  With black, ch 9. Sl st to the first ch to create a ring. Fasten off. Place around each button to close the top of the robe. Place the loose ends on the right edge of the button on the right (facing you). Weave the ends in to secure the piece so you can just slip it on and off and the strand will be secured to the robe.
