Derby Hat Crochet Pattern for American Girl and 18″ Dolls

Materials

• #3 DK Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima 100% Cotton 1 skein in beige color 3719
• E (3.5 mm) hook
• Row counter
• Stitch markers
• Scissors
• Yarn needle

Gauge 22 sc over 24 rows=4″ square

Skill level  Easy

Note: Hat is worked in continuous rounds. Place the marker at the beginning of each round.

Instructions

Ch 3. Sl st to the first chain to create a ring.

Row 1. Work 6 sc into the center of the ring. (6 sc)

Row 2. 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)

Row 3. *sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (18 sc)

Row 4. *sc in the next 2 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (24 sc)

Row 5. *sc in the next 3 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)

Row 6. *sc in the next 4 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (36 sc)

Row 7. *sc in the next 5 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (42 sc)

Row 8. *sc in the next 6 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (48 sc)

Row 9. *sc in the next 7 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (54 sc)

Row 10. *sc in the next 8 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (60 sc)

Row 11. *sc in the next 9 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (66 sc)

Row 12. *sc in the next 10 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (72 sc)

Row 13-23. Sc in each st around. (72 sc)

Row 24. Work this row through the front loop only. *sc in the next 11 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (78 sc)

Row 25. *sc in the next 12 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (84 sc)

Row 26. *sc in the next 13 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (90 sc)

Row 27. *sc in the next 14 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (96 sc)

Row 28. *sc in the next 15 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (102 sc)

Row 29. *sc in the next 16 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (108 sc)

Row 30. *sc in the next 17 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (114 sc)

Row 31. Sc around. (114 sc)

Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Ribbon

Ch 71. 

Row 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (70 sc)

Fasten off. Set aside. 

Flowers (make 3)

Create a slip knot and ch 3.

Row 1. Work 4 hdc in the 3rd ch from hook. Ch 2, turn. (4 hdc)

Row 2. Work 3 hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (12 hdc)

Row 3. *sc in the next st, (hdc, ch 2, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook, hdc) in the next st, sc in the next st. Repeat from * 3 more times across. 

Roll the flower piece around and place a stitch to secure. Position the ribbon around the hat at the brim and place then two ends together under where you want to position the flowers and sew to secure. Position the flowers and sew to secure. Weave in ends.
