Bubble Skirt Crochet Pattern

Free Crochet Pattern for American Girl and 18″ Dolls.

I love this little Hawaiian cutie and her precious top. Hawaiian prints are so much fun and I wanted to create a sweet bubbly skirt to pair with it.

What you will need:

  • #4 worsted yarn
  • E (3.5 mm) hook
  • row counter
  • stitch markers
  • scissors

  • Knit Picks Wool of the Andes 2 skeins in Winter Night

Gauge: 24 sc over 26 rows=4″ square

Stitch Abbreviations:

  • Sc – single crochet
  • Hdc – half double crochet
  • Dc – double crochet
  • Tr – triple crochet
  • Dec – decrease
  • Inc – increase
  • St – stitch
  • Sl St – slip stitch
  • Ch – chain
  • Fpdc – front post double crochet
  • Bpdc – back post double crochet

Pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Place marker at the beginning of each round. Make secure, firm stitches and follow gauge to ensure correct size.

Ch 60. Sl st to the first ch to create a ring.

Row 1. hdc in each ch around. (60 hdc)

Row 2. *fpdc in the next 2 sts, bpdc in the next 2 sts. Repeat from * around. (60 sts)

Row 3. Repeat row 2.

Row 4. *work a sc in the front loop and a sc in the back loop in the next st. Repeat from * in each st around. (120 sc)

Row 5-23. sc in each st around. (120 sc)

You can adjust the length of the skirt by adding or decreasing rows.

Sl st to the next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Create a slip knot and pick up the chain stitch located at the top back center of the skirt (at the waist) and create a slip stitch border around the waist of the skirt.

Sl st to the next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Cut 3 strands of yarn about 40″ long. Tie a knot in the top and braid the strands together. Tie a knot at the bottom of the braid to secure. Weave the braided strand under the front post stitches around the waist and tie in a bow in front. I used a slightly larger hook to pull the braided strand through. Retie the knots if necessary to adjust the length of the strands and trim to desired length.

Weave the braided strand through the front post stitches.
