Free Crochet Pattern for American Girl and 18″ Dolls.

Create a little crochet fringe shawl for your doll! The shawl can be worn in two ways, as pictured above like a scarf or wrapped around the back like a shawl. It offers both a springtime and fall time look.

What you will need:
- #4 worsted yarn: Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton 1 skein in Jade
- E (3.5mm) hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
- Row Counter
- Scissors
Gauge: 20 hdc over 12 rows=4″ square
Notes and Tips:
- You will be increasing along both edges as you work the shawl. The first and last stitch of the row you will work 2 hdc stitches.
- Every hdc stitch is followed by a ch 1 except for the last hdc in the row.
Directions
Ch 3.
Row 1. Hdc in the third ch from hook, *ch 1, hdc in the same ch as the first hdc. Repeat from * 2 more times. Ch 3, turn. (4 hdc, 3 ch)
Row 2. Hdc in the same stitch as the ch 3, ch 1, hdc in the same st, ch 1, *hdc in the next hdc st, ch 1. Repeat from * across until the last st. Hdc in the last st, ch 1, hdc in the same st. Ch 3, turn. (6 hdc, 5 ch)
Row 3-26. Repeat row 2.

Fasten off.
Finishing: Cut about 106 strands of yarn that measure about 5″ long. Attach 2 strands of yarn at the end of every row on the 2 slanted edges of the shawl. Fold the 2 strands over the hook at the middle. Insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through. Pull the yarn tight to secure. Once all the fringe has been attached, trim to 1 1/2″ long or desired length. Hide the yarn tails in with the fringe.
