This hat is inspired by Addy’s boater hat from her summer collection. It sits just atop the doll’s hair and you can add some elastic to the sides of the hat to wrap around the chin if desired. The hat is simple and quick to make using basic crochet stitches.

• #4 Worsted Yarn
• E (3.5 mm) hook
• Row counter
• Stitch markers
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Black and white gingham print ribbon 3/8” wide
• Hot glue

• Tan-I love this Cotton! 1 skein in Taupe

Gauge 24 sc over 24 rows=4” square

Directions

Ch 5.

Row 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 2 ch, 2 sc in the last ch, rotate and work down the opposite side of the chain, sc in the first 3 ch, 2 sc in the last ch. (10 sc)

Hat is worked in continuous rounds. Place marker at the first st of each row. 

Row 2. Work 2 sc in each st around. (20 sc)

Row 3. Inc, sc in the next 6 sts, inc, sc in the next 2 sts, inc, sc in the next 6 sts, inc, sc in the last 2 sts. (24 sc)

Row 4. Inc, sc in the next 8 sts, inc, sc in the next 2 sts, inc, sc in the next 8 sts, inc, sc in the next 2 sts. (28 sc)

Row 5. Sc in the next st, inc, sc in the next 10 sts, inc, sc in the next 2 sts, inc, sc in the next 10 sts, inc, sc in the last st. (32 sc)

Row 6. *sc in the next st, inc. Repeat from * around. (48 sc)

Row 7. *sc in the next 5 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (56 sc)

Row 8. *sc in the next 6 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (64 sc)

Row 9. *sc in the next 7 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (72 sc)

Row 10. Sc in each st around. (72 sc)

Row 11. Sc through the back loop only in each st around. (72 sc)

Row 12-14. Sc in each st around. (72 sc)

Row 15. Work this row through the front loop only, *sc in the next 8 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (80 sc)

Row 16. *sc in the next 9 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (88 sc)

Row 17. *sc in the next 10 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (96 sc)

Row 18. *sc in the next 11 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (104 sc)

Row 19. *sc in the next 12 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (112 sc)

Row 20. Sc in each st around. (112 sc)

Sl st to the next st. Fasten off. Weave in ends. 

Ribbon & Bow

With the ribbon, cut it the width of the circumference of the top of the brim of the hat. With the hot glue, glue the ribbon with the overlap in the center front of the hat. Cut another strand about 8” long. Tie in a bow and trim the edges. Hot glue the bow over the overlapping ribbon on the front, center of the hat.
