
It is hard to believe it is October already. These cute little pumpkins are fun and quick to make and an excellent way to use up some stash yarn. You can use them to decorate your house, for your American Girl and 18″ dolls or even as a pet toy.

- F (3.75mm) hook
- Craft felt (black)
- Polyfil stuffing

Jack-o-lantern
Pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Place marker at the beginning of each round.
With F hook and orange, ch 3. Sl st to the first ch to create a ring.
Row 1. Work 8 sc into the center of the ring. (8 sc)
Row 2. Work 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)
Row 3. *sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (24 sc)
Row 4. *sc in the next 3 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)
Row 5. *sc in the next 4 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (36 sc)
Row 6. *sc in the next 5 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (42 sc)
Row 7. *sc in the next 6 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (48 sc)
Row 8. *sc in the next 7 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (54 sc)
Row 9. *sc in the next 8 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (60 sc)

Stuff pumpkin.
Row 37. Dec around. (8 sc)
Sl st to the next st. Cut the yarn long enough to wrap around the pumpkin 6 times. Fasten off. Weave yarn tail through the front loop of the remaining 8 sts and pull tight to secure.
Finishing
Using the long yarn tail and a yarn needle, insert the yarn through the center of the pumpkin to the opposite end. Wrap the yarn around half of the pumpkin and then insert the yarn back through the center again to the opposite side. Pull tight to create an indention in the pumpkin. Repeat this process of pulling the yarn tight around and through the center 6 times total being careful to evenly space them out. Tie off to secure. Weave in ends.




Stem
With F hook and brown, ch 3. Sl st to the first ch to create a ring.
Row 1. Work 6 sc into the center of the ring. (6 sc)
Row 2. Sc through the back loop around. (6 sc)
Row 3-4. Sc in each st around. (6 sc)
Sl st to the next st. Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly. Sew the stem to the top center of the pumpkin.
For the face detail, using the craft felt, cut out fun shapes and glue to the front of the pumpkin.

Medium Pumpkin
Pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Place marker at the beginning of each round.
With F hook and burnt orange, ch 3. Sl st to the first ch to create a ring.
Row 1. Work 8 sc into the center of the ring. (8 sc)
Row 2. Work 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)
Row 3. *sc, inc. Repeat from * around. (24 sc)
Row 4. *sc in the next 3 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)
Row 5. *sc in the next 4 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (36 sc)
Row 6. *sc in the next 5 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (42 sc)
Row 7. *sc in the next 6 sts, inc. Repeat from * around. (48 sc)
Row 8-17. Sc in each st around. (48 sc)
Row 18. *sc in the next 6 sts, dec. Repeat from * around. (42 sc)
Row 19. *sc in the next 5 sts, dec. Repeat from * around. (36 sc)
Row 20. *sc in the next 4 sts, dec. Repeat from * around. (30 sc)

Repeat the steps for the ridges from the jack-o-lantern.
