Spring is finally here and planting season is among us! Keep your doll’s skin protected from sunburn and looking cute with this crocheted farmer hat. The ridges in the hat give a straw-like appearance and are worked at the end of the hat. Be sure to work through the back loops only as instructed to be able to add the ridges in at the end.

Fasten off. Weave in ends or you can hide the ends in the fringe. To attach the fringe I cut strands about 4” long. Holding 3 strands together, fold in half, and wrap around the hook. Insert hook into the st and yarn over and pull all strands through. I attached a group of 3 strands to the end of each row on the short ends of the shawl. Trim fringe.

Create a cute and easy scarf to keep your doll cozy for winter. This is a simple beginner level pattern that can be worked up quickly.

Materials

  • Worsted Yarn: Knit Picks Brava 1 skein in Wine
  • H (5 mm) Hook

Gauge

16 sc over 24 rows working through the back loop only=4″ square

Instructions

ch 141.

Row 1. Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. (140 sc)

Row 2. Sc through the back loop only in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (140 sc)

Row 3-11. Repeat row 2.

Row 12. Sc through the back loop only in each st across. (140 sc)

Fasten off. You can either weave in the ends or hide them in the fringe. To attach the fringe strands, cut strands about 6″ long. Fold it over the hook at the center of the strand. Insert your hook into a stitch along the short end of the scarf.

Yarn over with both strands and pull through the loop. I have attached 2 strands of yarn per row.

Once you have attached all the strands of yarn, trim ends to about 1 1/2″ long. Repeat instructions for the fringe on the opposite end of the scarf.
